Off season

Samoens is a truly year round resort. By the time the skiing finally closes at the end of April, spring has arrived in the village and the south facing slopes are verdant and in bloom. Bright sunny days are the norm with average temperatures from May onwards of over 25 degrees. Life goes on in the village with most shops and restaurants open all year round.

With the warmer spring weather so the focus turns from skiing/boarding to the many other outdoor activities on offer in Samoens. Equipment hire shops will ensure that from spring to autumn you can make the most of the many sporting possibilities described in the summer section of the website.

In the off season there are fewer visitors creating the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing and peaceful break. The mountain landscape is spectacular in all seasons but perhaps at its most interesting in the off season. In spring the mountain slopes and meadows light up with colour as alpine flowers come into bloom and leaves open up on the trees. Come the autumn the lush green forest covered mountainside transforms itself into varying autumnal shades of red, gold, russet and orange. As the leaves change colour the weather remains warm which means that well into the autumn you can still enjoy being as active or inactive as you choose on holiday in this beautiful place.

If you holiday in the off season you will be able to travel cheaply and enjoy apartment rental rates that are less than 50% of what they are in peak season.
